Duration is open — to a small first group of people, to begin with. It does what it set out to do, and it will grow carefully from here rather than all at once, so that everyone who joins gets an app that already holds together.

The idea is simple to say and takes a little care to build: everything you set money aside for has both a purpose and a horizon — when you expect to need it — and the horizon decides where the money should actually sit. Duration keeps those two questions in view and does the arithmetic for you.

What’s here from day one:

The two-axis model — buckets for purpose, accounts for horizon, and a clear read on what’s funded versus what’s only been allocated.
Recording and allocating income, moving money between accounts, and seeing every balance as an as-of view of the ledger rather than a number someone typed.
Sweep and drift — a considered nudge when money has ended up on the wrong horizon, so you stay in control without watching it constantly.
Import and reconcile from CSV, with goals and corrections that keep the history honest.
